About Studio TOOJ

Studio TOOJ is a Stockholm-based design studio founded by Ash Wilén-Jong (b. 1985, Hong Kong) and Johan Wilén-Jong (b. 1983, Sweden). Working across sculptural furniture, objects and material-led collaborations, the studio brings together traditional craftsmanship, experimental production and narrative thinking. The duo was named Designer of the Year 2026 by ELLE Decoration Sweden, and their work is held in private collections worldwide and the permanent archive of Corning Museum of Glass in New York.

Our practice

Studio TOOJ develops made-to-order furniture, small-batch collections and collaborations for private residences, hospitality environments and curated interiors.

Rather than following a single aesthetic or material language, the studio approaches each collection through a particular idea, process or construction principle. Traditional materials such as solid wood, natural stone and upholstery are explored alongside emerging techniques and materials, including 3D-printed quartz sand and biomaterial such as mycelium.

Across the studio’s work, familiar objects are often given an unexpected physical presence. Solid surfaces appear to drape, structural elements seem to float, and traditional construction details become defining visual gestures. This tension between perception and materiality runs through collections including DUK, Contourage and Musubi.

Studio TOOJ and Wilén-Jong

Alongside Studio TOOJ, Ash and Johan work together as the artist duo Wilén-Jong.

The two practices share the same founders and material curiosity but operate in different contexts. Studio TOOJ focuses on sculptural furniture, made-to-order collections, while Wilén-Jong is the duo’s gallery-represented artistic practice, encompassing functional art, one-of-a-kind commissions and limited series.

Through Wilén-Jong, the duo uses furniture and objects as a narrative medium, exploring subjects including burnout, human relationships with the natural world and the psychological meanings carried by materials.

Wilén-Jong is represented in the United States by Wexler Gallery and in Australia and New Zealand by Bonham Gallery.

Exhibitions and recognition

Studio TOOJ and Wilén-Jong have presented work in Stockholm, Milan, Miami, New York, Brussels, Copenhagen and Melbourne, including at Design Miami, Alcova, COLLECTIBLE, ICFF and 3daysofdesign.

Ash and Johan Wilén-Jong were named Designer of the Year 2026 by ELLE Decoration Sweden. Their work has been featured by Architectural Digest, AD Pro, Wallpaper*, Dezeen, Hypebeast, ELLE Decor, SightUnseen, House & Garden and more.
